Panache! the vocal ensemble, is a group of fun-loving women -- unique individuals, each with diverse talents and all with a sense of humor. Rehearsals are a cacophony of singing and talking punctuated by bursts of laughter as one member or another does or says something totally outrageous. These six women take their singing seriously and work diligently to achieve the standard they have set for themselves. Panache! strives to live up to its name.
Panache is a word of French origin that literally means “plume” such as is worn on a hat or a helmet. The historical reference is to the well-loved King Henri IV of France, a pleasure-loving and cynical, but brave military leader. Famed for wearing a striking white plume in his helmet, his war cry was "Follow my white plume!" ("Ralliez-vous à mon panache blanc"). Today, Panache is a familiar word used to describe someone or something with a dashing confidence of style, a certain flamboyance and courage.
